Controls

How to grab, move and scale structures, open the Main Panel, point, select and mute in Nanome XR, on each headset.

Grab, move and scale

A grab is the grip button on a controller, or a pinch with hand tracking and on Vision Pro.

The thumbsticks don't walk or turn you. Grabbing the workspace and pulling it toward you brings a structure closer.

Meta Quest controllers

The right hand is the dominant hand to start: it holds the current tool. The left is the off hand, with the menu shortcuts and the Wrist Menu. Left-handed mode swaps them.

  • Thumbstick, on a panelScrolls the panel.
  • Thumbstick pressWhile held, outlines that hand's pointer in your color. Others in the workspace see the outline too, which makes it a way to point something out.

Right hand (dominant)

The current tool's icon shows on this controller. For a tool with several modes, the mode shows beside it, between arrows that light up as the thumbstick switches it.

Left hand (off hand)

Left-handed mode

Left-handed mode, in the Settings tab, makes the left hand dominant. The tool and its display move to the left controller, and the Wrist Menu to the right wrist.

Hand tracking

Nanome reads hands the same way on Quest and Galaxy XR.

Galaxy XR

Hand tracking on Galaxy XR needs the headset's hand-tracking permission for Nanome. Nanome checks it when it starts, so a permission allowed later takes effect the next time Nanome opens.

Apple Vision Pro

Nanome on Vision Pro is a beta, and uses the visionOS pinch. Its window and menus are on the Vision Pro page.

The Vision Pro beta has no Wrist Menu, tool display or button shortcuts.
